We have been gone for the past week. It was my first time up at Gia's old stomping grounds and meeting her parents, in Tacoma, Washington. I had a blast! The food was really, really, good. I think I gained 5-10 pounds sampling everything!

Of course, pictures or it didn't happen. So on with the show!

DAY ONE

I love this first image, from the San Diego Airport, so I figured I'd share a large version.

After landing at SeaTac Airport, we spent the night with Gia's folks, Joe and Dori. And the following morning we set out to see a few of the sights around Tacoma.

DAY TWO

One place we went was the Puget Sound ferry landing, where someone had parked their sweet 1946 Buick Super Convertible.

And after the ferry landing we went for a drive and stumbled upon a clearing with a nice view of Mt. Rainier! I couldn't resist at least one picture.

DAY THREE

We went to Seattle, and wandered around Pike's Place Market as well as around the city a bit.

The top picture is the original Starbucks location, it's a pretty humble beginning. You might be surprised to see that their logo was originally topless, I know I was.

DAY FOUR

Gia and I headed over to the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. I loved the Lemurs (ahem... King Julians...), and inside the Lemur cage was this crazy Black Golem-Creature eating a leaf. He was my favorite of all the animals there, until I saw their Chinese Clouded Leopards! The trainer got in the cage with them and they bounced around and batted at him and wanted to play with him so bad! Gia grabbed a snap of him hugging his kitty buddies.

Also, there was a sweet falcon and we grabbed a few snaps of and his crazy talons. Then last, but not least, the aquarium had sharks! It was well worth the thirteen bucks that they charged for admission, if you go up there you'll have to swing by!

FAMILY PORTRAITS

While we were there I took a few minutes to create some images of the family. They're members of the Single Action Shooter Society (SASS), so we grabbed a few portraits with Joe and Dori in their authentic western outfits.

And... I also grabbed some natural light snaps of Wookie and Ewok, their two small poochies.

Caite and Alex | Coronado Peninsula

We had so much fun with Catie and Alex. It was non-stop laughs and good times. I have so many frames full of giggles and funny faces.

This frame is American Gothic. (Minus the pitchforks...)

We we took a stroll down Isabella Ave which is the site of their first meeting! So we had to grab a few shots with the Isabella Ave sign.

Caite and Alex had non-stop energy throughout the shoot, from the piggyback rides to the hip bumps, they truly showed their personalities in the pictures. A great fun-loving couple, we can't wait for their wedding!

Vacation | South Coast Winery, Temecula

We took a trip into Temecula wine country for Gia's Summer Break. We were only there for two days (if you add the half day we arrived and the half day before we left...), but we had a blast. We visited Wilson Creek Winery the day we arrived and then spent the entire next day touring and tasting at South Coast Winery.

The following images were all taken at South Coast (Winery). We loved Wilson Creek, but unfortunately, didn't break out the camera that day.

At the start of the tour we met Sarah and Dylan (like Bob Dylan). They were both fun and friendly, they even got Gia and me to agree to have our picture taken. Please forgive the quality, we set the camera to auto for this one...

Our tour guide through the grounds was the lovely Judy. She was both patient and knowledgeable.

We asked many stupid questions. She listened...

Then smiled and answered them all.

From where they keep the barrels and do the bottling we walked over to the warehouse where they house the stills and ferment the grapes.

We tasted some wine straight from the stills and listened to how both wine and champagne are made.

Deep into the warehouse where fluorescent lights emit an icky green glow.

Then outside for fruit, cheese, and instruction on the proper way to taste (more like evaluate!) wine. Gia and I sat at a table with Sarah and Dylan, and Pat and Bernice. I forgot to get a shot of Pat outside, but he is the gentleman in the green hat two images above! Sorry Pat!

Sorry Dylan's a tad soft, I knew I should have stopped down to f3.5. That's what I get for not playing it safe...

Gia doesn't like her scrunched face here, but I think it's cute. And I write the blog so...

After our tasting outside concluded, we were armed with the knowledge to sound smart as we evaluated wine after wine poured by the lovely Ruth. Never without a smile and ever attentive, I hope she is there next time we visit. (Whenever that is.)

Kate and Robert brought some awesome ideas and props to the shoot! We always want the theme of the photoshoot to represent the couple and one of the ideas they had was to put on their SCUBA gear. Both of them are active divers and were more than happy to splash around in the water while we took their pictures.

PS - I asked Gia why she wrote SCUBA in all caps, and she told me it's because it's an acronym. It stands for self contained underwater breathing apparatus. Maybe all of you knew that, but I sure as heck didn't. Hooray for learning something new today!

Emily and Travis | Coronado Peninsula

With Emily and Travis we were asked to do something a little bit different, incorporate architecture. So we headed down to the heart of Coronado for her beautiful and unique backdrop.

I love the look of adoration Emily is shooting Travis in this image.

Of course we had to end on the beach, at sunset, in front of the Hotel Del. It's just how we roll.

On May 1st, I had the wonderful pleasure of making images alongside Mr. Flavio Scorsato of Flavio Scorsato Photography. It was such a joy to be part of Reuben and Danelly's wedding. From the girls getting ready, to the boys endless roughhousing, it was a day of fun and celebration. At the end of the night when Danelly surprised Reuben with a traditional Samoan dance (that she had learned in secret!)... well, that was just icing on the cake.

I am so happy I got to be part of their wedding and I know that they are going to live happily ever after.
